Today's Detectives

The first modern detective that came to mind is Neal Caffrey from the USA original White Collar. This is without a doubt my favorite series. Neal poses as the unlikely detective. He is a convicted and world renowned art thief and con man, who has a plethora of other talents at his disposal. Much like the classical Sherlock Holmes, he is not bound by the same code as the law enforcement. Therefore, he is able to do what is necessary to solve the crime of the particular episode. Multiple times throughout this action thriller Neal has to revert back to his thieving skills to free others from harm's way. All in all, this character rightly so portrays the description of a detective.

Yet another action hero who serves an unlikely role as a detective is Wolverine (Logan) from the X-men series. In the film that gave a story primarily on him, Wolverine sets out to find why his lover had to be killed. In my mind anyone who goes on some sort of hunt looking for reasons why some event had taken place is a detective. Maybe not in the manner that an actual detective would today, but a detective nevertheless. He may not find what he is quite looking for in the end, but he searches with an unyielding, burning desire for revenge.
