On January 13, 1996, 9-year-old Amber Hagerman was riding her bicycle in Arlington, Texas, when a neighbor heard her scream. The neighbor saw a man pull Amber off her bike, throw her into the front seat of his pickup truck, and drive away at a high rate of speed. The neighbor called police and provided a description of the suspect and his vehicle. Arlington Police and the FBI interviewed other neighbors and searched for the suspect and vehicle. Local radio and television stations covered the story in their regular newscasts. Four days later Amber’s body was found in a drainage ditch four miles away. Her kidnapping and murder still remain unsolved.
JonBenét Ramsey
The first unsolved case of Amber Hagerman is so fascinating to me because instead of letting the death of her daughter consume her life, Amber's mother decided to use it to help other children and families. After Amber's death, the AMBER Alert was formed which notify's people through radio, phone, tv, and internet of a missing child in their area.
The second unsolved case of JonBenet Ramsey is so fascinating to me because of all of the clues the police have, but they cannot find her killer. I find it fascinating that the police are still looking for her killer today, 23 years later. They have all of the clues they need, they just can't put the pieces together. I always wonder what kind of person would murder an innocent child.
