Unsolved crimes and mysteries

The first unsolved mystery that comes to my mind is that of the Black Dahlia. Elizabeth Short was found in two pieces, the nickname came from the movie the blue dahlia that was being shot at the time.  Although the largest investigation in LA history was put on the killer was never found.

The second unsolved mystery of Jack The Ripper.  In 1888 London was terrorized by a series of murders.  The victims were usually prostitutes who had their necks slashed and their bodies mutilated.  In some cases the bodies were found just minutes after the murderer had left the scene, you have to believe that with the scientific approaches we take with crime scenes nowadays that if both of these unsolved mysteries were to occur more recently they would have been solved.
