Current Day Detectives

When I think about current detectives, I think about the book series The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. In the book series, Mikael Blomkvist is a journalist who goes around trying to help his friend Lisbeth Salander who is in major trouble throughout the movie. He is not hired by the police but he takes it upon himself to research and find out the truth to set her free. Also, when I think about current detectives, I think about Jack Bauer who worked in the Counter Terrorist Unit and throughout the series, Jack is faced with 24 hours to solve the case at hand. He goes out solving cases and trying to protect those around him. Looking at these two characters, i see that they are the modern day detectives that people can see on tv and heard in books.
