People like to read, watch, or hear about a detective solving such a mystery and try to pin point what happened before the detective does. Also, people want to see justice and most detective stories end in the detective catching the “bad guy”.

Who is a Detective
Two examples of current
detectives are professional sports referees and talent scouts for various
sports teams. Referees are like detectives because they must make decisions
based on evidence they have in front of them. However, a referee’s decision is
not quite as important as a detective’s decision which may be determining if a
man goes to prison or not. A scout is like a detective because they both must
go and find evidence. A scout must find evidence of a talented person and a
detective must find evidence to support an investigation.
