The equivalent of knights today

The eqivalent of knights today are police. Knights were supposed to protect the weak and therefore had to go through a lot of training to be highly skilled in fighting. They also had to be very brave and accept challenges that threatened their own well-being or that of the community. They had to be willing to put their lives at risk at any time. Police are very similar in many ways. Police must go through a lot of training so that they will be able to protect themselves and others in the community from violent criminals. Police have to be brave because they are the ones who have the deal with  the most murderous and violent members of society. The only way to effectively deal with these people sometimes is to put yourself at some level of risk. Police do not fight people unnecessarily to uphold their honor like knights did sometimes. However, most police are viewed as honorable and courageous like the knights were viewed as.
