Modern knights?

Are there actually knights, or the modern equivalent that still exist today?  Does a group upholding chivalrous virtues remain in the instantly gratifying materialist society in which we live?  Can I save you 15% or more on car insurance?  No, absolutely not, but perhaps your knight can.  There are thousands of different criteria in which a modern knight could fit.  For a family struggling to make ends meet, an honest, caring, ethical insurance agent could pass for a knight.  That being said, I can honestly say I do not think a group remains that could holistically pass for the equivalent of knights.

Granted, there are still people out there who could count as knights.  Ultimately, they are those strictly in service positions, or those who find themselves in a position to commit a valuable service to an individual in need, or society as a whole.  These people could range from policemen and firefighters, to teachers and civilians.  Anyone who finds himself in an opportunity to selflessly commit an act that puts a greater good first, and acts on that opportunity to the best of his ability, could be considered a hero to some degree, depending upon the urgency of the opportune victim and other extenuating circumstances.  To conclude, I believe knights could remain today, but not in the order, to the extent of which they used to.  The moral code has simply deteriorated too far.
