Ways to become a hero

I believe that heroes have all of the same characteristics.  In order to be a hero you have to be willing to give up your own life or pride to help restore another person or persons life/pride.  Heroes do what others cant go and that is 'save' people.  Whether you are saving someone from another person or saving someone from themselves. I believe this is the most important part of becoming a hero.  Heroes that are in everyday life would be policemen, firefighters, and other influential people who dedicate their lives to helping people.
