I think the equivalent of modern day knights are simply citizens who follow their "Natural Duty." There are the classic examples of firefighters and policemen, but their is also the neighbor who stops a robbery, the man who saves a woman from a burning car, and the mysterious stranger who helps but leaves before he can get any credit.
