Ways Someone Becomes a Hero

I believe a hero is someone who would put their life at stake in order to save someone else's.  They are not afraid of danger and are willing to sacrifice everything they have in order to save another being.  They perform these sacrificial duties on a day-to-day basis, and they never back down.  This was seen in the clip from "Merlin," when King Uther decided to fight in the battle so that Arthur did not have to risk losing his life.  King Uther stated how Arthur's life was worth way more than his own. In addition to sacrificing oneself, another way someone becomes a hero is by being a role model.  Often times, people say, "My mom is my hero," or "Sheldon Cooper is my hero," however, neither of those people may have sacrificed their lives for another person's.  Maybe they portray qualities that one wishes to inherit, or they are inspirational, and that make them a "hero."  This was also portrayed in "Merlin" by King Uther when he displayed bravery and courage by stepping up to the plate in order to defeat the unbeatable being.
