Other characteristics of courtly love are that the man is shown as the hero and the woman as the victim to be saved when she almost jumps over the edge of the ship. She was "unattainable" because she was from a higher class.

In Mulan, Mulan is certainly a lone hero who set on a quest to fight the invading Huns in the place of her father. She meets others along the way and strives to help those in need while she disguises as a man and even goes through training like a knight would.
