Knight References from Pop Culture

My first example is from a few years back. It is a song called “Coward of the County” by Kenny Rogers. The title is ironic considering the man it is about displays knightly characteristics. In the song, before the man’s father dies he tell the man not to fight and make the same mistakes as he did. This becomes like a code for the man. He must resist temptation and he is a loner for doing so. This is why he is the “coward of the county.” In the end he finds his true love and three men team up on her. He then breaks his code and fights them, but he does so for the right reasons.

My second example is Law Abiding Citizen. In this movie, a man is on the wrong side of the law for a somewhat right reason. He is upset that the district attorney made a deal with the man that murdered his wife and daughter, so he decides to teach everyone a lesson. The idea of fighting for his ladies, even after their death, is also knightly.
