A good reference to knights in today culture would be the movie : The Amazing Spider-man. Peter Parkers exemplifies knights in his everyday life because he is protecting and saving the world from evil and helping everyone out as best as he can. He doesn't boast in his actions and doesn't expect anything from people in return.
Shrek is another movie I thought of today when speaking of Knights in today's pop culture. Shrek is a green ogre but he goes to get the girl of his dreams and what sets him apart is he doesn't need a shining knight in armor but just himself.
