Merlin from the show we watched is what I like to call an unsung hero. He worked behind the scenes trying to save his freinds life, doing things without his knowledge and getting the sword enchanted by the dragon. That was a very risky undertaking on his part so I think Merlin was a major hero in this episode.
Another person I think who acted herocially was Uther, he took it upon hiself to save his only son. His method of having him drugged was not the most ethical thing to do, but something had to be done to allow him to face the black knight, and in the end it all worked out.
