The equivalent of knights today

I think that normal people who put themselves in positions to help people or rescue people or who put themselves in danger in place of someone else could be considered the equivalent of knights today. Like when normal people do something to stop a gunman, or protect children, or innocent people who are in trouble. Like when the teachers at the shooting in Newton, Connecticut put themselves in the way of the gunman to protect their students. Or when the people on flight 93 chose to crash the plane instead of risking more peoples lives. I think that would be considered the equivalent of being a knight in today’s world because knights in the olden days were supposed to protect the people and be courageous. Every day people who step up and be courageous are what I would consider to be “modern day knights.”
