Nobody to A Hero

The first example of a nobody who became a hero is Rachel Joy Scott.  This young woman was the first victim of the Columbine shootings in 1999.  Rachel is now being remembered as "The Girl Who Said Yes."  When the shooter was killing the people who replied with yes after being asked if they believed in God her answer was "yes."  Her parents wrote a book telling her story and even though she was an ordinary teenage girl she is being remembered as a hero because she was loyal to her faith till she was killed because of it.

The next example of a nobody who became a hero is Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger.   This man is the pilot of flight 1459 that gracefully landed in the Hudson river after his plane was damaged by a bird.  The pilot reached air traffic controllers and guided the plane to a safe landing in the river and managing to safely get his passengers out of the plane.  "Sully" is now being remembered as a hero for his quick thinking and strong will to be the best pilot he could be and save his passengers.
iReporter Julie Pukelis used a camera and a telescope to get this view of the scene in the river.
