Pirates, Captains, & Leaders

In class, we said that leaders possess qualities such as: bearing, courage, decisiveness, dependability, endurance, initiative, integrity, judgment, justice, knowledge, loyalty, tact, and unselfishness. However, we also recognized that no one will possess every quality. This is apparent if one looks at pirates and captains in modern movies as leaders.

On one hand, we see pirates such as Captain Jack Sparrow:

There are times when he is a leader, but there are also times when he is a bit lacking of some leadership qualities.

On the other hand, we have Captain America:

He is about as good as it gets when it comes to leaders. Before he became Captain America, some might say he was lacking endurance and judgment when he entered fights he could not win. However, he was still brave, loyal, dependable, etc. Once he became Captain America, he had the whole package.
