From Zero to Hero

The first example of someone who went from being a nobody to a hero is Hercules from the classic Disney film, Hercules. In the movie he is stolen away from his parents, Zeus and Hera, and poisoned so that he would become mortal and capable of being killed. Hercules is then found by his foster parents and raised as a normal boy, literally on a farm. He learns of his true heritage when venturing to Zeus’ temple and learns that he must become a true hero if he is ever able to journey back to Mount Olympus to see his parents. Hercules obviously accomplishes this feat and in the end stops the Titans from destroying Greece and saves Meg from the clutches of death. This qualifies him to regain his status as a God and gain entrance to Mount Olympus. Not to mention in the movie there is a song called From Zero to Hero.

A second example of a nobody becoming a hero is Peter Parker from the animated TV show Spiderman.  Peter grows up somewhat like Hercules does, without parents and his uncle who raised him is shot by a car thief. While dealing with Uncle Ben’s death and the troubles of high school he is bitten by a radioactive spider that gives him supernatural abilities. Peter goes from being a nobody in his town to assuming the identity of Spiderman who is the hero of New York City. Although he is under a mask while being a hero, he is one nonetheless.
