Foreign Detectives

Giancarlo Abete

While he is slightly different from the prototypical detective, Abete is a detective none the less.  As president of the Italian Football Federation, (FIGC - Federazione Italiana Gioco Calcio), Abete has made multiple investigations into multiple betting scandals across Italy in the past few years.  His degree of success varies based upon who you ask, but it is generally agreed upon that like the rest of the Italian Government, he is immeasurably corrupt.   For example, over the summer a case was on trial concerning the involvement a coach named Antonio Conte.  Being tried for match-fixing while coaching a previous team (he has since moved on), there was one player on the team, Filippo Carobbio, who testified against him, with an argument that ended up contradicting itself.  There were over 24 players and coaches who spoke in favor of Conte, yet Abete sided with Carobbio and banned Conte for 4 months.  As it stands, Abete is nothing more than an incredibly poor detective.

The Counte of Montecristo

Billionaire, faithful, philanthropist.  Such is an accurate description of the mysterious figure formerly known as Edmund Dantes.   Again, not an out and out detective, but his various exploits as a vigilante across the Mediterranean region certain belay the skill set required by a detective, and in many cases far surpass that of any detective.  This is never more evident than in his dealings with Roman outlaw Luigi Vampa, as well as various members of the french aristocracy when he is trying to fix the system.
