There was this construction worker who dove under a subway to save a man. Wesley was a construction worker who was taking the subway, when a man started convulsing and fell onto the tracks. The train was coming straight at them in full speed and Wesley did not have much time to think, so he took the guy to a "narrow trench that lay between the tracks" and held him in a tight squeeze. The conductor tried to stop the train when he saw them, but did not have enough time to stop it. But, they both surprisingly survived the horrific incident.
Another example would be Keith Lane. He stops suicides as a hobby. He lost his wife, to what they think was suicide, a while back. So, now he goes to that area and helps those who seem to be at a place in their lives. He saves about 20 suicides per year.
Those are two very good examples of "nobodies that become heroes". I give both those men a lot of credit because they both risked their lives to save others.
