Modern Day Knights

Tony Stark or Iron Man I feel is one of more famous Knights of pop culture. He risks his life to fight for what is right once he realizes the corruption his company has caused in providing missiles to terrorists. Also in the later movies he is very chivalrous with his wife as well as very affectionate.

Bruce Wayne in the movie Batman would have to be the other major Knightly figure of pop culture. He wears armor as other Knights do and fights vigilantes in the night. He also is very polite and kind with the ladies as Knights were said to be.

Knights in Pop Culture

A good reference to knights in today culture would be the movie : The Amazing Spider-man. Peter Parkers exemplifies knights in his everyday life because he is protecting and saving the world from evil and helping everyone out as best as he can. He doesn't boast in his actions and doesn't expect anything from people in return.

Shrek is another movie I thought of today when speaking of Knights in today's pop culture. Shrek is a green ogre but he goes to get the girl of his dreams and what sets him apart is he doesn't need a shining knight in armor but just himself.

Pop Culture Knights

When thinking about Knight references in pop culture, I first thought of Emily from ABC's show revenge.  She reminds me of Britomart in a way, she is can suit up and fight anyone (and win), but she is also sweet and sexy.  She will stop at nothing to get revenge.

I also thought about Daryl from AMC's The Walking Dead.  He is always thinking about protecting the group and does everything in his power to help them. Although he is not seen as the groups leader, he is still an asset to the team and possess many more knightly qualities than Rick, selflessness being the biggest one.

This scene, which happens often, in the TV series house could be an example of King Arthur.  House and his medical team use this table as a place to make all the important descisions about patients.  The whole team gathers around the table and shares thoughts and ideas reuarding the current case that they are working on.

In the movie, A Walk to Remember, Landon could be considered a knight.  He is a bad boy, into fighting and a little bit of bullying others.  When he meets Jamie he beomes a chivalrous man that she never imagined.  Toward the beginning Jamie never believes that Landon could change so much.  Because of love he changes and ends up being the best thing that could have happened to her, even though she doesnt realize it.  Landon shows examples of courtley love, he can't stop thinking about her and will do anything to be with her.

Knights in Pop Culture

This is only one scene from the entire show but it portrays King Arthur pretty clearly...

The transformers act as knights...protecting earth and defending it no matter what.

Jedi Knights

They pledge to protect and defend...

...and carry themselves with morality, not giving into the many temptations.

Scarlet Knights

                                                Fighting together...toward a common goal.
